Rawnet collaborates with University Centre Farnborough

Marketing Manager

Marketing Manager

We recently visited Graphic Design students at University Centre Farnborough.

As part of our efforts to give back and support the development of a younger generation of digital professionals, we recently gave the 2nd year Graphic Design students at University Centre Farnborough a brief to create a visual campaign to attract digital and marketing managers to Rawnet's Growth Hub! The students had to design an email campaign, social media posts, a pop up banner and a promotional box with unique contents to achieve this objective.

As our judges, Marketing Manager Ellie and UI Developer Jess had to pick a winner! The winning team of 3 produced some amazing work, and they have had the opportunity to write a blog about their pitch to Rawnet. The winning team also joined us in the office on the 9th June to speak to each area of the business and learn about all walks of agency life. We really enjoyed meeting the winning team and believe that these talented creatives have a bright future in the marketing world.

Collaborating with Rawnet

We are second year students at Farnborough College of Technology, Sam, Ella, and Alanis. We are currently completing a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design. As a part of our course, we are required to complete a module consisting of a live brief to experience working with real businesses.

We were given the opportunity to work with Rawnet for one of our university projects, as though we were part of the internal marketing team. Our role was to create a campaign that attracted companies like ITV & Softcat to Rawnet’s Growth Hub; Rawnet’s space full of resources to help businesses grow.

Overview of the brief

The aim was to create a visual campaign that attracted digital and marketing managers to visit the Growth Hub in line with Rawnet’s brand guidelines. The campaign aimed to be innovative, exciting and professional. We formed our own design teams, allocating and identifying roles best fit around skill sets. We researched and developed ideas that met and exceeded the requirements of the brief.

These being:

  • A posted promotional box with unique items
  • Social media adverts across different platforms
  • A website pop-up to get potential clients to sign up to receive updates
  • An email campaign showcasing the Growth Hub to attract marketing managers

We wanted to have a unique design that would be used across all our outcomes, to keep it consistent. So, we designed a couple of patterns and finally selected the theme of arrows to resemble growth. We also selected stylised illustrations that would be used across a range of our designs.

The imagery used throughout the campaign portrayed an uplifting positive impact, showing what it feels like to succeed. Also, throughout the campaign we used emotive language, asking questions to engage the target audience to go forward with the call to action and find out more about Rawnet and the Growth Hub. We kept the tone of voice friendly and approachable throughout the campaign to reflect Rawnet’s personality.

We believe that these comprehensive set of outcomes attract marketing managers, with consistent branding, design style and messaging. We considered the needs of the target audience and adapted that to reach them the best way possible to learn about what Rawnet can do for their business, and how the Growth Hub can help support them.

Summary of experience and project as a whole

This project was an amazing opportunity to gain an insight into working for a digital agency and working as part of a marketing team. We gained more knowledge in collaborative working and problem solving for a live brief, as well as pitching to a client and acting on client feedback. We’d like to say a big thank you to Rawnet for the great opportunity and inviting us to their studio to meet their team. Learning about the different departments and how they worked together to create the most efficient working environment was also informative and eye opening. Everyone was very friendly, and we felt welcomed from the moment we walked in.
